Elevated Beans is a specialty coffee brand based in Chicago with a direct link to the vibrant coffee-growing regions of Tanzania. Our mission is to bring premium, single-origin coffee to conscious coffee drinkers who value not just taste, but also traceability, ethics, and origin. What sets us apart is our deep connection to the source. We work directly with smallholder farmers in the Mount Kilimanjaro and Mbeya regions—areas known for their rich volcanic soil, high altitudes, and generations of coffee-growing tradition. These relationships aren’t intermediated by anonymous exporters; they’re personal, intentional, and built to grow with time. Once harvested, our beans are shipped to Chicago, where we roast them in small batches to preserve their natural character and deliver peak freshness. At Elevated Beans, we’re not just selling coffee. We’re creating a bridge between East African coffee heritage and the specialty coffee movement in the U.S.—one that honors everyone along the journey from farm to cup.

We believe freshness should never be an afterthought. Our approach favors small-batch roasting and direct-to-order fulfillment to prioritize quality over quantity. And as we evolve, we remain committed to building a model that reflects fairness, sustainability, and traceability at every step.
Our Journey: Friends, Coffee, and a Quest for the Source
Our story at Elevated Beans is an unexpected blend of tech and tradition. As two friends who met at Illinois Tech, coffee began simply as the fuel for our late-night computer science studies. But those endless hours of coding sparked a deeper fascination, turning a functional necessity into a shared passion for the bean itself.
The true turning point came when one of us returned to Tanzania, his homeland. While setting up a trucking company there, he found himself, by a twist of fate, transporting coffee from farms to ports. This unique vantage point ignited a profound connection with the land and its dedicated farmers. Building those direct relationships, witnessing the meticulous care involved, solidified our vision.
It became clear we had to bring these extraordinary, directly sourced Tanzanian coffees to the community we’d grown to love in Chicago. And that’s how Elevated Beans, and our mission to share these elevated coffees, was born.
